Kissing Booth fans are winning big on Sunday — the franchise's star, Joey King, nabbed Comedy Movie Star of 2020 at the 2020 People's Choice Awards tonight, and during her acceptance speech, she revealed that The Kissing Booth 3 will be out in summer 2021.

The second film in the popular rom-com series, which also starred Jacob Elordi, premiered this July on Netflix. It was shot at the same time as its sequel in South Africa, which meant the cast and crew were mostly unaffected by the COVID-19 pandemic that's shut down or delayed much of Hollywood.

King previously revealed The Kissing Booth would be coming next year in a special fan event for the streamer, along with the fact that the entire cast would be returning for the third movie. The occasion was also attended by King's costars Joel Courtney, Elordi, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Taylor Zakhar Perez, Meganne Young, and director Vince Marcello.

The Kissing Booth films are based on the self-published Beth Reekles novels that follow the life of high school student Elle Evans (King). In the first two installments, she meets, falls for, and dates high school jock Noah (Elordi). The third installment tackles Elle's challenges in deciding where she will attend college. She's been accepted to both Harvard — the same school Noah will attend — and Berkeley, where BFF Lee (Young) has matriculated. Where will she go?

In a sneak peek from the third movie that Netflix released in July, Elle hangs up a call from the Harvard Admissions Office (becoming probably the first person in history to do so) while lounging at the pool with Noah and her friends.

At the People's Choice Awards on Sunday, Jennifer Lopez took home the People's Icon Award, while other top honors went to Tiffany Haddish in Like A Boss for Female Movie Star of 2020 and Grey's Anatomy for the Show of 2020.
