Which Spider-Man wore a fake butt in No Way Home? Andrew Garfield says he's 'totally unmodified'

The plot, ahem, thickens.

Tom Holland ignited the movie mystery of the year in a February interview with Seth Meyers on Late Night: Whose butt in Spider-Man: No Way Home was real, and whose was a phony?

"I'll give you a spoiler, and I'm not going to tell you who, but one of us has a fake a-- in their suit," he said. "You can figure out that for yourselves."

Now, Andrew Garfield has added a major clue to the ongoing debate that ensued.

Meyers seems determined to answer this looming question because when Garfield dropped by to promote FX's Under the Banner of Heaven Thursday night, the host was quick to bring it up.

"All I know is that I am totally unmodified," Garfield replied, "and that's all I can share."

Garfield and Tobey Maguire, who previously played Spider-Man in Marc Webb and Sam Raimi's Spidey movies, respectively, joined Holland as alt-reality web-slingers in No Way Home.

"I remember being on set like, 'Wow! Oh, hang on a minute, nah, that's not real,'" Holland told Meyers, recalling how he scoped out their butts on set.

Garfield pointed out just how good Holland is at the whole marketing thing. "He's just stirring the pot, old Tom. He can't help himself," he told Meyers. "There's an expression that we have in entertainment, which is that we want to put bums on seats. We want to get the audience sat and paying their tickets. Tom is pretty great at creating the subgenres of games for you all while you're in the cinema going, 'Well, that butt doesn't look real.' 'Tobey's looks like it might be real.' 'Could Andrew have that much a--? Maybe. Potentially.'"

Fans have been following Spider-Butt Gate by researching the actors' past movies and red-carpet appearances, scrutinizing images of all three A-list derrieres.

Garfield previously said he didn't think Maguire was wearing a fake butt. In a red-carpet interview with Entertainment Tonight at the SAG Awards in February, Garfield pulled the "I have no idea" card, saying, "It's not me. So, I have no clue. I don't know. I assumed everyone's butts were their butts."

Then he revealed that he has actually seen Maguire's butt and is convinced it couldn't be him.

"I don't think it's Tobey," he said. "I've seen Tobey's butt. Tobey's got back."

So… is this true or is Garfield protecting his No Way Home costar? The plot thickens (pun very much intended).
