Jared Leto calls Chester Bennington 'absolute legend' in moving note

Jared Leto wrote a note remembering Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington, who died Thursday at age 41, that he posted on Twitter Saturday.

“When I think of Chester I remember his smile,” Leto wrote. “His laughter, intelligence, kindness and talent. That absolutely unforgettable voice that was at once delicate, ferocious and always full of emotion.”

As frontman of rock band 30 Seconds to Mars, Leto toured with Linkin Park in 2014.

“Witnessing his life taught me a lot,” Leto said in his note. “Especially about commitment, about kindness, about hard work, about the pursuit and achievement of dreams and mostly, about love.”

In the wake of Bennington’s death, Linkin Park have canceled the remainder of their summer tour. Blink-182 also announced that they will not be going on their planned mini-tour with Linkin Park, which was scheduled to kick off later this month.

“My heart goes out to his family, friends, band and fans,” Leto concluded. “A tragic loss of an absolute legend. We will miss you.”
