Kendrick Lamar unveils 'All the Stars' from Marvel's Black Panther soundtrack

Though it still hasn’t been formally released, the official movie soundtrack to Marvel’s Black Panther is looking to be a must-buy. The first few trailers for the Ryan Coogler-directed film featured songs like “Legend Has It” by Run the Jewels and “BagBak” from Vince Staples, and now Kendrick Lamar has treated fans to one of his musical contributions: “All the Stars.”

R&B singer SZA features on what is the lead single off Black Panther: The Album. If that weren’t enough, Marvel announced that Lamar and Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith are curating and producing the soundtrack. Pre-orders are already available for under $10, though the other songs are still to be revealed.

Lamar first teased his involvement with Black Panther in his music video for “LOVE.” At around the 1:54 timestamp, a clapboard appeared in front of the camera with the message, “B.Panther Soundtrack Coming Soon.” Lamar’s single “DNA” was also used to accompany the exclusive footage from the film shown at San Diego Comic-Con last year.

“Marvel Studios’ Black Panther is amazing, from its cast to its director,” Lamar said in a statement. “The magnitude of this film showcases a great marriage of art and culture. I’m truly honored to contribute my knowledge of producing sound and writing music alongside Ryan and Marvel’s vision.”

Coogler (Creed) helms Black Panther, which stars Chadwick Boseman as the king of Wakanda, a fictional, futuristic empire hidden in Africa. After making his big-screen debut in Captain America: Civil War, T’Challa will get his own solo film, which features the talents of Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Forest Whitaker, Angela Bassett, Letitia Wright, Daniel Kaluuya, Andy Serkis, and Martin Freeman.

Black Panther will hit theaters on Feb. 16, and the soundtrack will be available on Feb. 9.
