Coachella reveals 2020 lineup after trolling with hints on Twitter

Coachella sneakily dropped hints about the 2020 lineup on social media before finally revealing the entire list of performers set to play in the desert this year.

Late on Thursday, the popular Southern California music festival began trolling fans on Twitter by replying to years-old tweets of artists who either wanted to play or have previously played at Coachella, as well as fans requesting specific musical acts.

The potential 2020 lineup clues began when the official Coachella Twitter account replied to a 2015 tweet asking to have FKA twigs play again at the 2016 festival. “Sorry just seeing this,” the Coachella account replied.

Then more old tweets were resurfaced when the Coachella account quote-tweeted with snarky comments.

“The energy 2020 needs,” the account replied to a tweet referencing Rage Against the Machine, which is the only musical act that had been previously confirmed as one of the 2020 Coachella headliners.

More tweets referenced rapper Denzel Curry, bands King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard and Chicano Batman, electronic acts Caribou, Duck Sauce, and Fatboy Slim, and hip hop duo Run the Jewels.

And then the account finally revealed the entire lineup by tweeting out a photo of the poster.

Coachella 2020 will take place in Indio, Calif. over the course of two weekends: April 10-12 and 17-19. Tickets have been on sale since June 2019. Rage Against the Machine, the popular rock band that haven’t played together since 2011, confirmed their reunion will take place over both weekends of Coachella when they announced the performance dates and locations on social media back in November. And now we finally know who else will be playing the festival this year in the desert.
