Taylor Swift dispels rumors of third surprise album Woodvale

Like the rest of the world in 2020, Taylor Swift is tired. Unlike the rest of the world in 2020, Swift also wrote, recorded, and released two surprise albums within five months of each other, so she's dispelling heavy fan speculation that a third secret studio set is around the corner.

Appearing on Monday's episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, Swift addressed rumors started by eagle-eyed fans who discovered the text "Woodvale" — which many assumed to be the title of a forthcoming third LP of the year following the surprise release of Evermore last week — hidden in the black-and-white trees on the cover of a special edition of her Folklore album, which dropped in July.

"I tend to be sort of annoyingly secret agenty about dropping clues and hints and Easter eggs. It's very annoying but it's fun for fans and it's fun for me because they like to pick up on things," Swift said. "Sometimes I take it too far and I make a mistake."

She explained that, when making Folklore, she hadn't even revealed the title of the gestating project to her closest team members, so she came up with fake code name that had the same amount of letters, Woodvale, which she calls a "random name" she placed on mockups of the album cover art to see how it would look, but "forgot" to take the title off ahead of the album's release.

"Evermore had a code name, which was November, but we remembered to take it off all the mockups of the album covers before we released them this time, so we learned a lesson," Swift explained.

"Jimmy, I'm so tired. I'm just so exhausted," she said when Kimmel joked about another LP on the way. "I've tired myself out. I have nothing left."
