Nicole Kidman's daughter might be the one to finally get us Big Little Lies season 3

Though the stars have talked about a third season for years, could Nicole Kidman's daughter's demand for more finally seal the deal?

Nicole Kidman's daughter needs more Big Little Lies.

Speaking with Vogue Australia, Kidman revealed that she'd recently watched the hit HBO series with her 15-year-old daughter Sunday, who was immediately obsessed with the show.

"She has a very good understanding of things, and life, so she was hand-held through it," Kidman said, noting that there were still scenes where she made her daughter cover her eyes.

Kidman's daughter's first response was to demand more episodes. "And she was like, ‘No. There’s no more discussion. The third series has to happen…I’m sick of the talk. Sick of circling it. Just get it done,'” the Oscar winner said. “You need a teenager to go, ‘Enough. Just do it.’”

And that seems to have done the trick. At the Golden Globes, costar and co-producer Reese Witherspoon teased to Variety that she and Kidman are actively developing more of the show. "We are working on it," she said. "Nic and I have been working on it a lot."

Kidman also hinted at the likelihood of a third season, discussing her ongoing relationship with Witherspoon. "We are very close," Kidman said. "We live in the same city five minutes from each other and we spend enormous amounts of our off-work time together. We’re always like, ‘We could do this, and we could do that!’ And now, the train has left the station.”

It's a bit of an about-phase for the drama. When season 2 concluded in 2019, the cast all expressed a desire to make more at some point. But when the show's visionary director Jean-Marc Vallée's died in Dec. 2021, it seemed to put a kibosh on any plans to move forward.

"We talked about doing a Season 3 a lot," star Zoë Kravitz said back in 2022. "Unfortunately, Jean-Marc Vallée, our incredible director, passed away this last year. It's heartbreaking. I can't imagine going on without him. He really was the visionary for that show. Unfortunately, it's done."

But with some time and distance from the tragedy, it sounds like Witherspoon and Kidman are preparing to round up the gang and return to Monterey.

HBO declined to comment on a potential season 3.
