'The Masked Singer' recap: The Tree is axed! Find out which celebrity was under the tinsels

Warning: This post contains spoilers for The Masked Singer season 2 episode 10.

Tree got the chop on The Masked Singer tonight as six contestants were whittled down to five.

All the remaining contestants were featured on a special Tuesday airing of the show, with Tree, Fox, Thingamajig, Leopard, Flamingo, and Rottweiler performing their best covers. Judges Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger, and Ken Jeong were joined by guest panelist and last season’s winner, T-Pain. As usual, Nick Cannon served as host.

First, Fox got down to Jamie Foxx’s “Blame It” featuring T-Pain (the show is really laying on the Foxx clues thick). Next, Leopard sashayed to fun.’s “We Are Young.”

Thingamajig serenaded the audience (especially Scherzinger) with John Legend’s classic track “Ordinary People,” even sitting on the edge of the stage toward the edge of the song. T-Pain, whose costume was the Monster in season 1, applauded his “son” for doing an amazing job.

Then, Flamingo took flight with a high-energy rendition of Fleetwood Mac’s “Go Your Own Way” that Jeong complimented with every “S”-adjective known to man: sexy, sassy, super — you get it.

Tree later took the stage for a glittery, fast-paced cover of Lady Gaga’s “The Edge of Glory.” And finally, Rottweiler sang a beautiful, intimate version of Lewis Capaldi’s “Someone You Loved.”

Finally, Tree was then eliminated and uncovered to be … comedian, singer, and Saturday Night Live alum Ana Gasteyer.

She was among the hardest celebrity identities to guess (EW called it!), but some of the top clues for her were working in a collaboration, soup (she was in the “Soup Nazi” episode of Seinfeld), Christmas (she was in A Christmas Story Live), and being known for one thing (likely referencing SNL in which she was in the famed “Schweddy Balls” sketch and did a killer Martha Stewart impression), plus she recently released a Christmas album.

With Tree down, the five remaining competitors will face off in Wednesday’s holiday-themed semifinal episode at 8 p.m. ET.
