Riley Keough pays sweet tribute to mom Lisa Marie Presley on first anniversary of her death

The "Daisy Jones & the Six" star shared an endearing photo of herself as a child with her mother.

Riley Keough is honoring her late mother, Lisa Marie Presley, on the first anniversary of her death.

The Daisy Jones & the Six star shared a sweet throwback photo of herself as a child with her mother on her Instagram account Friday. Keough captioned the photo simply with a heart emoji.

Presley, the only daughter of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, died unexpectedly last January at 54, after being rushed to the hospital while suffering from cardiac arrest. Months later, the L.A. County Department of Medical Examiner confirmed that Presley had died from "a small bowel obstruction caused by scar tissue that developed after a previous bariatric surgery years ago."

Keough's throwback photo came one day after the actress revealed she plans to publish her mother's posthumous memoir, which Presley had asked her daughter to help finish prior to her death. The project was then put off, but Presley's passing spurred Keough to revisit the project.

"Few people had the opportunity to know who my mom really was, other than being Elvis's daughter," Keough said in a statement about the book. "I was lucky to have had that opportunity and working on preparing her autobiography for publication has been a privilege, albeit a bittersweet one."

She added, "I'm so excited to share my mom now, at her most vulnerable and most honest, and in doing so, I do hope that readers come to love my mom as much as I did."

The audiobook edition of the yet-to-be-titled memoir will be read by Keough and feature "never-before-heard recollections" in Presley's own voice. The book is available for preorder now and will arrive Oct. 15.
