Sean 'Diddy' Combs slams federal agents raiding his homes: 'Gross overuse of military-level force'

Sean "Diddy" Combs is speaking out a day after federal agents raided his homes in Los Angeles in Miami.

In a statement provided to Entertainment Weekly on Tuesday, Aaron Dyer, an attorney for the embattled hip-hop mogul, slammed the searches as an "excessive show of force" and maintained his client's innocence.

"Yesterday, there was a gross overuse of military-level force as search warrants were executed at Mr. Combs’ residences," Dyer said. "There is no excuse for the excessive show of force and hostility exhibited by authorities or the way his children and employees were treated. Mr. Combs was never detained but spoke to and cooperated with authorities. Despite media speculation, neither Mr. Combs nor any of his family members have been arrested nor has their ability to travel been restricted in any way."

Dyer added, "This unprecedented ambush — paired with an advanced, coordinated media presence — leads to a premature rush to judgment of Mr. Combs and is nothing more than a witch hunt based on meritless accusations made in civil lawsuits. There has been no finding of criminal or civil liability with any of these allegations. Mr. Combs is innocent and will continue to fight every single day to clear his name."

On Monday, Homeland Security Investigations told EW that HSI New York "executed law enforcement actions as part of an ongoing investigation, with assistance from HSI Los Angeles, HSI Miami, and our local law enforcement partners" and pledged to "provide further information as it becomes available."

Citing two unspecified law enforcement officials, the Associated Press reported that the searches were carried out as part of an ongoing sex trafficking investigation by by federal authorities.

The raids came in the wake of multiple of lawsuits accusing Combs, 54, of rape, sex trafficking, and other abuses. R&B singer Cassie first sued Combs in November, accusing him of sexual assault and years of physical abuse and controlling behavior; the two parties settled the suit a day later.

Several more accusers have since sued Combs, who has consistently denied the allegations.
