Snoop Dogg promises to 'get underwater' to cover the Paris Olympics

The rapper-turned-sports-correspondent told reporters at TCA that he's a fan of "the underwater boogie."

Where there's smoke, there's… water?

That might just be the case when Snoop Dogg hits the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics as a special correspondent for NBC. The hip-hop legend told reporters at the winter Television Critics Association press tour Wednesday that he's "gonna get underwater" in the City of Light, adding, "I like the underwater boogie."

Presumably the Doggfather is a fan of aquatic events like swimming and diving, but it sounds like his coverage will take him all over the games — and beyond. "It's gonna be me in the field, at events, hosting, getting with the athletes, moving through the city," he said, "just doing the things Snoop Dogg does."

NBC announced last month that Snoop would be part of its coverage team in Paris, adding, "We don't know what the heck is going to happen every day, but we know he will add his unique perspective to our re-imagined Olympic primetime show."

On Wednesday, Snoop gave a little bit more insight into what his coverage will entail. "We're planning on shaking it up and doing something different, and just having fun," he said. "It's the Olympics. We only get it once every four years, so we're going to make the most of it."

Paris won't be Snoop's Olympic debut. He teamed up with Kevin Hart for some hilariously absurd play-by-play of sports they didn't understand during the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. However, that off-the-cuff style isn't what viewers will get this summer.

"I don't ever come in cold," Snoop said at the TCA tour. "I always come in hot. So with that being said, don't worry about the research. I know everything about everyone. We're gonna be fine."

As if to prove he's always coming in hot, Snoop threw out a bonus idea for his coverage: "I would love to do a song with Dolly Parton. Can you hook that up?"

The Queen of Country has already been involved in promotions for the Summer Games, having made an Olympics-themed video for her cover of Queen's "We Will Rock You" last summer.
