Chris Pratt takes on the 'role of a lifetime' as the Pringles man in new Super Bowl ad

See the likeness — and a very good dog — in the new commercial.

He's helped bring iconic characters such as Super Mario and Garfield to the screen, but Chris Pratt is about to tackle the role of his lifetime: the Pringles man.

In a new Super Bowl ad for the popular canned chips, below, Pratt becomes a different Mr. P. After buying a can of the snack, a cashier tells him he looks like the iconic mustachioed figure. At first Pratt denies it, but then he — and everyone around him — can't unsee it.

Then, his agent calls him up, offering "the role of a lifetime." Cut to him in a scene and subsequent billboard in character as Mr. P from the film of the same name. (It should be noted the humorous commercial also features a very good dog.)

The 30-second spot is inspired by fan sightings of "the Pringles guy" shared to social media. And to that end, Pringles fans are being encouraged, "whether you create him in the foam of your morning coffee, or see him in the clouds on your daily walk, your favorite house plant, your pet (or even in yourself!)" to "share an image or video of your Mr. P creations or sightings on Instagram or TikTok using #ISeeMrP and #PringlesContest by 11:59 p.m. ET on Feb. 16 for a chance to win up to $15K," per a release from the brand.

Every year, some ads for the Super Bowl, which airs this year on Sunday, Feb. 11 on CBS, drop early or are teased online. So far, starry spots have included big TV reunions such as 30 Rock. And although they don't appear in the Pringles commercial, a Parks and Rec reunion is afoot during the Big Game. Mountain Dew has teased that Pratt's former costars Aubrey Plaza and Nick Offerman will star in their own Super Bowl spot for the soda.
