Bachelor host Jesse Palmer on Lauren's surprise exit

The sister act is no more.

Each week during The Bachelor, host Jesse Palmer will answer a few questions about Joey's "journey" to find "love." Today, Jesse shares his thoughts via email about Daisy and Joey's one-on-one date, Lauren's self-elimination, and more.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: As Joey's best man, don't you think it was your responsibility to tell him that it's not normal to marry nine women at once?

JESSE PALMER: It’s also not normal to whisk Daisy away on a first date via helicopter, but this is THE BACHELOR!

Daisy shows Joey her cochlear implant on 'The Bachelor'.

Daisy shared the story of her hearing loss and cochlear implant on her one-on-one date with Joey. I don't even know her and I felt so proud of her — what was your reaction to her story?

I was incredibly impressed that Daisy opened up about something so personal on their first date. Her medical history, and what she has had to overcome, is a big part of who she is. I think the fact that she was so comfortable opening up really impressed Joey as well, making him feel much more trusting and comfortable around her at this early stage in their journey.

Maria really couldn't seem to grasp that her comment about age hurt Madina's feelings. Why do you think that is?

I think Maria believed the drama was more centered around implying that Madina was "old," and not about Madina’s feelings being invalid or minimized.

Lauren was understandably emotional on the wedding date, having lost her father recently. She went into the final cocktail party hoping for a "do-over" with Joey, but by the time she sat down with him, she changed her mind and wanted to go home. What do you think changed?

I really felt for Lauren, I can’t imagine what it must have been like trying to process all of those emotions. I think she got into her own head a bit and simply wasn’t able to turn the page.

Final question: Can YOU flip a tire like Joey?

I might dislocate both shoulders trying to flip a tire at this stage of the game...
