The View censors Jennifer Lopez's response about self-funding new movie

EW has learned that the show intentionally dropped live audio when Lopez answered Ana Navarro's question.

Jenny from the Block just had her words, uh, blocked by The View.

Jennifer Lopez appeared Thursday on the long-running talk show to promote the release of her upcoming This Is Me... Now album, tour, and accompanying musical movie — and, while she answered cohost Ana Navarro's question about self-funding the reportedly $20 million project, EW has learned the show dropped audio to censor a portion of the superstar's response.

"I think it was hard for people to understand what I was trying to do. I didn't want to do videos or a collection of videos, that wasn't the goal. It's not quite a long-form movie, it's somewhere in between," Lopez said after Navarro inquired about Lopez's decision to put up money for the album and film, both of which debut Friday and dramatizes the 53-year-old's storied love life with Ben Affleck and includes a wave of celebrity cameos from Fat Joe, Lopez's Monster-in-Law costar Jane Fonda, and Hustlers actress Keke Palmer.

"It's kind of like this meta musical kind of thing, that's like a new thing, and I wanted to do a new thing. I think a lot of people couldn't understand it, so nobody wanted to finance it and nobody wanted to put it on their services. It was like, trust me, this is something new and exciting. At the end of the day, I was like, you know..." she continued, before the audio cut as Lopez spoke her next few words.

When the show's audio returned, the audience was applauding as Lopez laughed before continuing her thought: "And then I'll show them, I'll show them!" she said. "Then, when I showed them, they were like, 'Oh, we love that!'"

EW has reached out to representatives for The View and Lopez for more information.

Lopez isn't the only one to have her words censored by The View, as the show's cohosts — particularly Sara Haines and Navarro — have also had their audio cut on past live episodes of the show.

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
