Alec Baldwin and Anne Heche set Twentieth Century Broadway reunion for April

For one night only, Alec Baldwin and Anne Heche are going back to the Twentieth Century.

EW has confirmed that the two acclaimed actors, who starred in a 2004 Broadway revival of the beloved Ben Hecht & Charles MacArthur comedy, will reunite to read the play on the Great White Way one more time, for a benefit reading organized by Roundabout Theatre Company. Tickets go on-sale in March for the event, which takes place April 29 at Studio 54.

Having originally premiered in 1932, Twentieth Century is a screwball comedy that centers on egomaniacal Broadway director Oscar Jaffee (Baldwin), who’s going bankrupt as he boards the Twentieth Century Limited and encounters his former discovery and ex-chorus girl Lily Garland (Heche), now a temperamental Hollywood star. He’ll do anything to get her back under contract and back in his bed, but his former protégé will have nothing to do with him. All of the action takes place on board the legendary Twentieth Century train from Chicago to New York City where Oscar has 20 hours to persuade Lily to return to Broadway in his upcoming show. If he fails, it’s the end of the line.

Heche received a Tony nomination for Best Actress for her turn in the 2004 production, which was directed by Walter Bobbie. Bobbie is also returning to helm this one-night-only reading. The performance will be of Ken Ludwig’s adaptation of the script by Hecht and MacArthur.
