Doll & Em's Dolly Wells, Emily Mortimer reunite in Good Posture trailer

Doll & Em collaborators Dolly Wells and Emily Mortimer have re-teamed for the first time since their beloved HBO series ended in 2015, and EW has an exclusive trailer teasing the latest project from the real-life friends.

Written and directed by Wells (who appeared in last year’s Oscar-nominated drama Can You Ever Forgive Me?) as her feature directorial debut, Good Posture follows a young, recently single woman, Lilian (Maniac‘s Grace Van Patten), who moves in with a mysterious couple shortly after her messy breakup. Upon her arrival, the pair soon split, and in lieu of paying rent, Lilian’s new roommate — a successful, reclusive author named Julia (Mortimer) — proposes that she cooks a nightly dinner for her instead, leading to a peculiar bond that unfolds through secret messages written back and forth to each other in Lilian’s journal.

Their odd-couple chemistry opens Lilian’s eyes to new creative ventures, and she then embarks on a quest to make a documentary about Julia’s life, though various entanglements with men new and familiar weaving in and out of her life may or may not derail the process. Still, their platonic connection teaches each woman a lesson about life and responsibility along the way.

In addition to Mortimer and Van Patten, the film features cameos from Jonathan Ames, Martin Amis, and Zadie Smith, while Search Party‘s John Early, Girls actor Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Enlightened‘s Timm Sharp appear in supporting roles.

Good Posture premieres Saturday, April 27 at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival. Watch EW’s exclusive trailer above, and see the film’s new poster below.
