Seinfeld star Jason Alexander shares Festivus wishes for the rest of us

Many people may be busy shopping and preparing for Christmas, but for Seinfeld star Jason Alexander, Dec. 23 means celebrating a special holiday.

On Friday, the actor took to Twitter to wish everyone a happy Festivus, the holiday popularized by the classic NBC comedy.

The holiday, started on the show by George Costanza’s (Alexander) father, Frank (Jerry Stiller), served as an alternative to the perceived commercialization of Christmas. The festivities include a special aluminum Festivus pole and a dinner that includes the “Airing of Grievances” and “Feats of Strength.”

Festivus was introduced in the ninth and final season of Seinfeld, in the episode titled, “The Strike,” which was written by Alec Berg (Silicon Valley), Jeff Schaffer (The League), and Dan O’Keefe (The Drew Carey Show), whose father invented the holiday.
