Bingeworthy: The OA is an intriguing ride that turns 'laughable'

Bingeworthy hosts discuss The OA

Netflix’s mysterious new sci-fi show The OA left Bingeworthy host Jessica Shaw laughing by the end — but for a show that’s not supposed to be a comedy, that’s not exactly a good thing.

“I was intrigued, I really like this world,” she said of the show about a blind woman who disappears and returns with her sight restored. “Yet as much as I liked the first half of the series, I just felt like it fell apart a little by the end, culminating in a downright laughable… let’s just say there’s movement, like dance movement, in that finale that I actually laughed out loud to.”

For co-host Touré, who has yet to finish the series (meaning he hasn’t yet experienced the “movements”) the show is like an onion, full of layers and twists and turns that keep pulling him back.

“This show is mysterious and creepy, and it just keeps dragging me in more and more,” he explained. “There’s so much going on, I don’t know how you turn away from this.”
