Miles Teller has nabbed his first starring role on TV.

The Whiplash actor has been cast as the series lead in Amazon’s Too Old to Die Young, written by Nicolas Winding Refn (Neon Demon, Drive) and comic book writer Ed Brubaker (HBO’s Westworld). The series, which will be directed by Refn, dives into Los Angeles’ criminal underbelly via the existential journeys of killers becoming samurai. Teller will play Martin, a police officer who finds himself embroiled in the world of assassins.

“I’m a huge fan of Nic’s work so the opportunity to work with him, and for a company like Amazon, with this type of material is very exciting,” said Teller in a statement.

The premiere date for Teller’s new project has not yet been announced.

Teller has two movies coming down the pike this year: Granite Mountain, a film about the firemen who fought the 2013 wildfire in Prescott, Arizona, that’s due Sept. 22; and the war drama Thank You For Your Service, which hits theaters Oct. 27.
