Bill O'Reilly chuckles at controversial United Airlines passenger video

'I shouldn't be laughing.'

Bill O’Reilly is drawing more ire from some viewers over his reaction to the controversial United Airlines passenger video. The host of Fox News’ O’Reilly Factor was seen chuckling over footage of the bloodied passenger forcibly removed from the aircraft, though he instantly apologized for the reaction.

“I shouldn’t be laughing, but it’s just so bizarre,” he said in a segment on Monday before introducing his guest, correspondent Rob Schmitt.

On Sunday, passengers of United Express Flight 3411 were asked to voluntarily accept compensation and hotel accommodations after the airline overbooked the flight and needed room for four crew members. When no takers stepped up, the crew chose people at random, one of whom stated he is a doctor and needed to treat his patients the next day. He was forcibly removed from the aircraft by police and injured in the process.

After footage of O’Reilly’s reaction started making headlines, the responses kicked off on social media.

O’Reilly has been at the center of a sexual harassment scandal. The New York Times reported he and Fox News paid $13 million to prevent five women from going public with their accusations. Dozens of advertisers have since withdrawn ads from The O’Reilly Factor.
