Chelsea Handler on Sean Spicer's Hitler comments: 'He's so stupid'

Never one to hold back, Chelsea Handler trashed White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer on Conan Tuesday for recent comments he made about Hitler during a press briefing. “He’s so stupid. He can’t possibly be that stupid naturally,” she said.

Addressing a question about President Donald Trump’s bombing of a Syrian airfield after a chemical weapons attack from President Bashar al-Assad’s government, Spicer said earlier, “We didn’t use chemical weapons in World War II. You had someone as despicable as Hitler, who didn’t sink to using chemical weapons.”

Convinced Spicer isn’t acting alone, Handler suspects Trump whispers in his ear just before the press briefings. “Say something about Hitler and, yeah, the Holocaust. Say something about that,” she said.

Spicer has since apologized for the comments, but the comedian said, “That means nothing at this point.”

She continued: “I don’t understand how you can keep that job and go out there and do that, like does he think this is gonna end well for him? Like, all of sudden he’s gonna get a huge promotion because people are gonna be like, ‘He’s amazing!’ I mean, he’s going down.”

Handler said she wishes she could be in the press room so she could “actually ask him questions that you can prove that he lied about.” Referencing the White House reporters, she added, “Instead, they ask him serious questions as if he’s got a f—ing answer. He doesn’t know what to say, he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.”

She also has beef with Ivanka Trump — which she has already addressed with Bill Maher — but it’s mainly due to the fact “that she’s in that family.”
