Peter Capaldi previews new Doctor Who episode: 'Always be suspicious of friendly robots'

The BBC has released a new behind-the-scenes video in which Doctor Who stars Peter Capaldi, who plays the titular Time Lord, and Pearl Mackie, who portrays new companion Bill, preview the show’s upcoming episode “Smile,” which premieres Saturday at 9 p.m. ET on BBC America.

“So, episode two of the new season of Doctor Who finds the Doctor taking Bill in the TARDIS deep into the future to a far-off planet created by [episode writer] Frank Cottrell Boyce,” says Capaldi in the clip.

“It’s Bill’s first real adventure,” says Mackie. “She gets to go to the future, she gets to see another planet, and she gets to meet these really cute little robots — who might not be all they seem.”

“I think if a robot is friendly to you, you should always be really suspicious,” advises Capaldi. “I mean, at least the Daleks are upfront about where they stand. And the Cybermen, too.”
