Get Shorty TV show trailer shows Hollywood taking a dark turn

Chris O'Dowd and Ray Romano star in EPIX's new prestige drama

Get Shorty, EPIX’s upcoming TV adaptation of the 1995 Barry Sonnenfeld film, introduces viewers to a man at a crossroads. Miles Daly (Chris O’Dowd) is a low-level criminal enforcer, usually tasked with disposing of bodies for his boss Amara (Lidia Porto), but with his wife and daughter pushing away from him, he decides a career change is in order. After assassinating a screenwriter, Miles decides to enlist B-movie producer Rick Moreweather (Ray Romano) to help him make the late man’s screenplay and thus break out of his rut in life.

As it turns out, criminal skills are actually very transferable to Hollywood. As showrunner Davey Holmes told EW in a recent interview, “he knows how to pressure people to get them to do what he wants them to do — and it turns out that’s a great skill set in Hollywood. Being brutal about things gives you an edge over everyone else in Hollywood. It’s a throwback to the guys who founded some of the big studios, who were practically mobsters.”
