John Oliver trashes 'revolting' Stephen Miller: 'Vitamin D-deficient Minion'

John Oliver didn’t hold back his contempt for Donald Trump political advisor Stephen Miller, calling the controversial figure a “Vitamin D-deficient Minion” (as in the characters that originated in Despicable Me) and “revolting human” on Sunday’s Last Week Tonight.

“Miller spoke to the press this week about the White House’s support for a draconian immigration bill which would slash legal immigration levels in half over a decade and make citizenship contingent on factors such as English ability, education levels, and job skills. Which prompted this incredible exchange with CNN’s Jim Acosta,” Oliver said Sunday, before playing the now-infamous footage of Acosta and Miller’s back-and-forth.

“The Statue of Liberty says, ‘Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.’ It doesn’t say anything about speaking English or being able to be a computer programmer,” Acosta said last week. To which Miller later replied, “The [Emma Lazarus] poem that you’re referring to was added later. It’s not actually a part of the original Statue of Liberty.”

Quipped Oliver on Sunday: “Wait, though: Just because it wasn’t part of the original does not mean it is worthless. Some of the best things ever made were changed part way through. Did you know, for instance, there was a time when Fast and Furious movies didn’t have The Rock in them? It’s true, and they sucked. That’s why they added the f—ing Rock.”

In the wake of Miller’s performance last week, it was reported that the Trump administration is now considering him for the role of communications director following Anthony Scaramucci’s publicized flame-out.

“That would be a lot of responsibility for Stephen Miller, a man who is — and this may be the most shocking thing you learn tonight — 31 years old. He is 31 human years old,” Oliver said Sunday, before noting that Miller is the same age as Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. The Last Week Tonight host then played a recently unearthed video of Miller in high school, where the future political operative rails against the notion of picking up his own garbage because “we have plenty of janitors who are paid to do it for us.”

“Wow. He is truly one of the most revolting humans — parenthesis, Minions — I have ever seen,” Oliver concluded. “You know, in a way, there is no more fitting spokesman for the Trump administration than an entitled, elitist a–hole who refuses to take responsibility for the messes he makes, and who can somehow manage to pick a fight with a f—ing statue.”
