Arrested Development season 5: Tony Hale tweets photo of a reunited Buster and Lucille

Oh, (mother)boy! Arrested Development has officially begun production on its fifth season, which means that the ultra dysfunctional Bluths will be back on your screens next year. But here they are right now, or at least two of them. Tony Hale — who plays manchild Buster Bluth — tweeted a picture of himself with Jessica Walter, who plays enabling, alcoholic mother hen Lucille Bluth, with the words, "Mother and me. #AD5."

Arrested Developmentwhich ran on Fox from 2003 to 2006 and was revived in 2013 for a fourth season on Netflix — returns in 2018 with 15 episodes. Details on season 5 are scarce, but star Jason Bateman — who tweeted the first photo from/of the set in July — has confirmed that it will center on a murder mystery surrounding Lucille 2 (Liza Minelli). He also noted that the cast will be together much more in season 5 than they were in season 4. "Because of certain limitations we had with actors' schedules and exclusivities to other shows, and budgetary constraints, [series creator Mitch Hurwitz] had to pivot a bit off of that," Bateman said of the season 4 challenges.

He also indicated that there were more adventures to come, explaining that Hurwitz had a "three-act story" to unspool after the original run on Fox. "The first act was done on the first batch of Netflix episodes [in 2013], and we're about to do now the second act of that story, and then the third act presumably will be done if we can all get it together at a later date, maybe in another few years," said Bateman. "We're kind of turning into a Michael Apted Seven Up! thing."
