Seth Meyers mocks Hillary Clinton for Bernie blame

On Wednesday’s Late Night, Seth Meyers took aim at not just Donald Trump, but also his presidential opponent.

First up was Trump, with the host mocking the president’s poor grammar in describing Hurricane Irma. “It looks like it could be something that will be not good,” he quoted the president.

“You know, I have to say, when a natural disaster is bearing down on our country, it would be nice to hear from a leader who knows more words than Tarzan,” said Meyers. “‘Hurricane bad. Much wind. Not good.'”

Then, for his recurring segment “Hey!,” Meyers turned his attention to Hillary Clinton’s new memoir What Happened, in which she puts some of the blame for her election loss on her Democratic primary opponent Bernie Sanders.

“Hey, Hillary Clinton, don’t blame Bernie because Donald Trump called you names,” declared Meyers. “I promise you, he was going to do that anyway. It’s not like Trump watched Bernie at the debates and thought, ‘Criticizing Hillary? That just might work.’ You think Trump needed Bernie’s permission to be an a—hole? A—holes don’t ask for permission — that’s what makes them a—holes.”

Citing the “dark time in America,” Meyers voiced his disappointment that Clinton and Sanders aren’t putting their past behind them and taking the “unprecedented opportunity to pull Democrats and liberals together and to stand against the hate and incompetence in Washington.”

He concluded, “This isn’t the time to complain because Senator Woodstock didn’t roll over for you. Hey, if anything, he helped make you a better candidate. You know, the candidate who beat Donald Trump by three million votes.”
