Arie Luyendyk Jr. is the next Bachelor — and Twitter has mixed feelings

Thursday morning, the star of the 22nd season of The Bachelor was revealed — and it wasn’t Peter Kraus as many were expecting. No, the next one to get a season all about his search for love is Arie Luyendyk Jr., a racecar driver who competed on season 8 of The Bachelorette back in 2012, ultimately losing Emily Maynard’s final rose to Jef Holm.

Because that season aired five years ago, some fans aren’t pleased that the show is about to spotlight someone from the past and are reacting accordingly on Twitter — “the last time arie was on tv I had a MGMT poster hanging up in my dorm room,” one user tweeted — while others are thrilled to see the now-“silver fox” on their screens.
