X-Files: David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson banter over 24th anniversary

Nearly a quarter-century after The X-Files debuted, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson still have their spark — even in 140 characters or less.

On Sunday the longtime costars marked the 24th anniversary of their sci-fi series’ pilot episode with a charming exchange on social media. “24 years today,” Anderson tweeted alongside a photo of Mulder and Scully working in inclement weather. “Deja vu all over again. Thanks for repeatedly standing in the mud & the rain with me @davidduchovny.”

“What’s a little mud and rain between partners,” Duchovny replied.

X-Files aficionados will get to see Duchovny and Anderson share the screen once again in 2018, as Fox has ordered a second installment of its revival series. David Madden, who recently departed his post as chief of Fox’s entertainment division, teased last month that the show’s 11th season will start “right up from where the season finale left off with that big helicopter and [take] you right from there. You’ll be launched into a very urgent adventure that has a lot to do with William — Mulder and Scully’s kid.”
