Marvel's Runaways: What does Pride ultimately want?

Now that Jonah has been reanimated, of sorts, Pride’s master plan is starting to take shape. But with four episodes of Marvel’s Runaways left in the season, their ultimate goal still remains shrouded in mystery.

In addition to Pride committing the sacrifices that have made Jonah (Julian McMahon) whole again, viewers know that Jonah previously sought out Geoffrey Wilder (Ryan Sands) because of a piece of land that he owned, which has since been under construction. The Minorus, meanwhile, played host to a Pride gala, while the Deans have led the Church of Gibborim that somehow also plays a role in Jonah’s plans — Annie Wersching previously teased that “Leslie is really the only one who truly knows what Pride is for.” Jonah’s endgame is therefore less clear to everyone else, the audience included. But EW can tease that eagle-eyed viewers may spot a major spoiler about Jonah’s plans in the pilot. (More on that soon.)

“Everything has been connected,” executive producer Josh Schwartz tells EW. “Every story that we’ve been following on the Pride side, whether it’s the Wilders worried about this dig at the construction site, the Pride philanthropy at the charity event at Wizard Computers, the building of this new school, Jonah’s arrival, all of it has been connected and been building toward some pretty big reveals.”

Pride’s plans, however, may get derailed now that Catherine (Angel Parker) suspects that Molly (Allegra Acosta) was in the basement and witnessed their sacrifice. “Molly was able to talk her way out of it once before with Catherine, but feeling like time was running out to know more about her parents, as a 14-year-old girl would, she got ahead of herself, she just blurted out this omission before she could think twice about it,” Schwartz says. “Now she’s going to face the Wilders, who have a very real and concrete sense that Molly has seen more than she let on. She’s going to have to go up against Geoffrey and Catherine Wilder, which is a scary proposition.”

A new episode of Marvel’s Runaways is released Tuesdays on Hulu.
