Bryan Singer removed from FX's Legion

Bryan Singer is no longer an executive producer on FX’s Legion.

Showrunner Noah Hawley told reporters at the Television Critics Association’s press tour in Pasadena, California, on Friday that the producer-director requested his name be removed from the credits of the X-Men-inspired drama to not be a “distraction” moving forward.

“I don’t really know anything more about it other than he asked to have his name removed from the show,” Hawley confirmed to EW. “I don’t really know any of the behind the scenes of why he asked or when he asked or anything.” FX likewise confirmed Singer’s name was removed.

The X-Men director has been accused of sexual misconduct, including a lawsuit alleging sexual assault. Representatives for Singer previously “categorically denies these allegations and will vehemently defend this lawsuit to the very end.” His rep added to the New York Times, “Once Bryan prevails, he will pursue his own claims for malicious prosecution.”

Singer’s status is still under review on another TV show, Fox’s The Gifted.

Asked if Singer’s exit affected the upcoming second season of the critically acclaimed Legion, Hawley replied, “For us, unlike The Gifted where he directed the pilot and was more involved, really it was just his name that was on the show. I literally haven’t spoken to him since before we filmed the pilot, so it’s been a couple of years. There’s always shows where you have producers names on it where you’re like, ‘I don’t know that I’ve ever met that person.'”
