Robert Rodriguez’s mysterious virtual reality project can now be revealed.

The Sin City filmmaker has just wrapped filming a short-form titled The Limit starring Fast and the Furious franchise star Michelle Rodriguez.

Billed as one of the first high-end native VR projects, The Limit is a first-person POV action series that follows Rodriguez as she plays “a genetically enhanced weapon of mass destruction hellbent on destroying the covert agency that created her.”

The project will premiere on STX’s upcoming pay-per-experience VR channel “Surreal,” launching as an app on VR headsets in mid-2018.

The Limit is a first-of-its-kind series in a new format that delivers a blockbuster, lean-back cinematic experience that audiences can’t find anywhere else in the VR marketplace right now,” said Rick Rey, Co-President of STXsurreal.

Rodriguez co-wrote the project with his son, Racer Max, and directed and produced as well. “I’m a huge fan of VR, and I started Double R Productions with Racer Max to create innovative content for the medium… It was a thrill to be working with the awesome Michelle Rodriguez again in this exciting entertainment space.”

Michelle Rodriguez previously worked with the director on Machete, Machete Kills, and the upcoming Alita: Battle Angel.
