Steve Martin and Martin Short join forces for Netflix comedy special

Spend an evening with the Martins

Steve Martin and Martin Short are now just “like Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle except for the pay,” they tweeted on Tuesday. In other words, they have their own Netflix comedy special.

Comedy’s latest dynamic duo have been touring together across the country. One of those pitstops at the Peace Center in Greenville, South Carolina, was filmed and will be presented as their official special to be released at a yet-to-be-disclosed time later this year.

Steve Martin and Martin Short: An Evening You Will Forget For the Rest of Your Life will feature material presented through musical sketches and conversations about their careers, most memorable encounters, and lives in show-business and stand-up.

Also featuring the Grammy-winning bluegrass band Steep Canyon Rangers and Jimmy Kimmel Live band member Jeff Babko, the special is directed by Marcus Raboy and executive-produced by Martin, Short, Saturday Night Live‘s Lorne Michaels, Erin David, and Marc Gurvitz.

Chappelle won a Grammy earlier this year for his Netflix special, while Rock dropped the surprise Tamborine in mid-February.

“I’m often asked, ‘Who do you think was the greatest stand-up in the late ‘70s?’ And I always answer, ‘It was you, Steve,'” Short says in the announcement video posted to social media.
