The Bachelor: Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Lauren Burnham are engaged

Arie is engaged … again!

After Monday night’s Bachelor finale saw Arie send Lauren home so that he could propose to Becca, the Bachelor changed his mind. He then confronted Becca in a highly controversial — at least according to Twitter — move. He explained to Becca that he couldn’t stop thinking about Lauren and wanted to see if he could make things work with her. That, of course, meant he wanted to end his engagement to Becca.

Then, during Tuesday’s After the Final Rose special, viewers watched a taped segment in which Arie traveled to Virginia Beach, Virginia, to see Lauren and ask for a second chance. After a long conversation, Arie told her, “I want you back,” to which she responded, “Well you got me.”

Cut to the couple appearing together onstage at the After the Final Rose special, where they sat down across from host Chris Harrison and Lauren admitted, “I’ve never been more in love with him.” After they recounted their love story, Arie revealed that Lauren will be moving to Arizona so the two of them can be together. Arie then took Lauren’s hand and led her to the middle of the stage and, in front of the studio audience, asked her to marry him. “I’ve made some bad decisions, but the best decision was running back to you,” he told her. “I’m ready to face this life with you and all that comes with it, the good and the bad. I love you so much, and I want to do this in front of everyone because I want to show you that I should’ve done this a long time ago.” He then got down on one knee and popped the question, to which Lauren said yes.

As Harrison put it, let’s hope this one lasts longer than the last.
