Ever since Hope ended The Originals’ fourth season by attending Caroline and Alaric’s boarding school, which they created in the The Vampire Diaries series finale, rumors have been swirling about a potential Hope-centric spin-off. Those rumors only grew when The Originals cast Danielle Rose Russell as a teenage version of the character for its fifth and final season (which premieres Friday, April 20).

In August, CW president Mark Pedowitz took the stage at TCA and revealed that he and Originals showrunner Julie Plec had discussed a potential spin-off. “Julie and I and the studio have had many a discussion. Nothing has come out of it yet, but…I’m hopeful,” Pedowitz said, adding, “There’s been many conversations about the character of Hope.”

Although the spin-off is still in active development and has yet to land an official pilot order, there is a cast attached should the project move forward: Vampire Diaries‘ Matt Davis and The Originals‘ Danielle Rose Russell would star alongside Quincy Fouse, Jenny Boyd, Kaylee Bryant, and Aria Shahghasemi. (Yes, Alaric would be back!)

If ordered, the spin-off would join 9 other pilots already in contention for the fall, including the potential Supernatural spin-off, Wayward Sisters. However, the CW did recently announce that the network is adding a sixth night of programming to help make room for its shows.
