Succession teaser trailer introduces HBO's next great warring family

If theres one thing audiences love, it’s stories about people in power and the cutthroat ways they rise to the top. Now joining that genre, alongside powerhouses like Empire and Game of Thrones, is HBO’s Succession.

On Monday, HBO released the first teaser trailer for the drama series written by Jesse Armstrong (In the Loop) and directed by Adam McKay (The Big Short). Brian Cox plays Logan Roy, the wealthy and powerful patriarch of an international media conglomerate. Roy has four children by three wives: son Kendall (Jeremy Strong), who is a division president at the firm; Roman (Kieran Culkin), a free spirit who left the company; Siobhan (Sarah Snook), pursuing a career in politics; and Connor (Alan Ruck), the eldest, who removed himself from the company’s sphere.

The series follows the family “as they contemplate what the future will hold for them once their aging father begins to step back from the company,” according to a release from HBO.

“There’s no question that Succession, at its root, is a family story. There’s also a tragic side to it, where you see how massive wealth and power distorts and twists and wounds this family,” says McKay, who directs and executive produces alongside Armstrong, Frank Rich, Kevin Messick, Will Ferrell, Jane Tranter and Mark Mylod.

Succession will premiere on HBO in June. Watch the teaser above.
