Big Hero 6 The Series getting a super-sized premiere weekend

At long last, Big Hero 6 The Series is coming to Disney Channel.

Fans of the Marvel comic that became a Disney animated movie that was then adapted for the small screen got a taste with Baymax Returns, an hourlong television movie that premiered last November. But today brings word that the continuing adventures of season 1 will drop on the network with a premiere weekend beginning June 9.

The first two episodes will kick off that Saturday at 9 a.m. EST, followed by another two episodes on Sunday, June 10 in the same time slot.

Baymax himself (voiced again by Scott Adsit) marked the back-to-back premiere announcement with a special video message for viewers. “You will be satisfied with your care,” he promises.

Big Hero 6 The Series picks back up with 14-year-old boy genius Hiro (Ryan Potter), who attempts a balancing act with his academic/teen responsibilities and his superheroics. The Big Hero 6 squad also includes Baymax, Go Go (Jamie Chung), Wasabi (Khary Payton), Honey Lemon (Genesis Rodriguez), and Fred (Brooks Wheelan).

The voice cast includes Maya Rudolph as Aunt Cass, Alan Tudyk as Alistair Krei, David Shaughnessy as Heathcliff, and Stan “The Man” Lee as Fred’s dad. Though, there are many more newly announced guest stars coming to the city of San Fransokyo.

Gordon Ramsay will voice cooking competition participant Bolton Gramercy, while fellow celebrity chef Alton Brown will voice cooking show host Yum Laboughé. Other actors from the feature film, like Daniel Henney (Hiro’s brother) and James Cromwell (Professor Callaghan), also return.

Castle‘s Susan Sullivan gives voice to Fred’s mom, Pitch Perfect‘s John Michael Higgins voices Fred’s sidekick robot Mini-Max, Diedrich Bader of American Housewife voices pompous local TV reporter Bluff Dunder, Sean Giambrone of The Goldbergs voices Fred’s arch-rival Richardson Mole, Naoko Mori of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again voices thief-for-hire Momakase, Raising Hope‘s Lucas Neff voices fast-food mascot Noodle Burger Boy, and Mara Wilson of Matilda fame voices a self-made billionaire by the name of Liv Amara.

Season 2, meanwhile, is already a go. So June will just be the start of many missions to come.
