Jimmy Kimmel interviews Ryan Gosling in space for First Man

This fall, Ryan Gosling will take on the role of a lifetime when he plays Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon, in Damien Chazelle’s new film First Man. With the movie’s first trailer set to premiere Friday night, Jimmy Kimmel will have Gosling on the show to discuss — and they’ll be doing the interview in space, as seen in a new teaser clip, above.

Sitting together in the tight confines of a spacecraft in their astronaut suits, Kimmel and Gosling share several laughs — especially once they spot a particularly funny callback to the 2013 film Gravity.

More than a month before the First Man trailer premiered, Gosling and Chazelle previewed select footage at this year’s CinemaCon in Las Vegas. Chazelle relished the chance to tell the story of the first lunar astronauts on film for the first time, while Gosling homaged the bravery of Armstrong and his fellow astronauts as they prepared to go where no man had gone before.

To see the full interview, tune in to the special “Game Night” edition of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, which will air at 8 p.m. ET, 7 p.m. CT, and on the West Coast following the NBA Finals game.
