This Friday, Netflix will release season 1 of The Umbrella Academy, its new live-action adaptation of the cult favorite comic about adopted siblings who used to be superheroes and now have to make sense of their adult lives. That's not the only superhero adaptation Netflix has on the docket, though. On Monday the streaming service announced the cast for its upcoming TV show Jupiter's Legacy, based on the comic by Mark Millar and Frank Quitely.

Josh Duhamel will star as Sheldon Sampson, a.k.a. the Utopian. The world of Jupiter's Legacy is one where the world has mostly been perfected by a group of superheroes who have been active since the '30s. Sheldon is the leader of that superhero team (known as The Union), alongside his wife Grace Sampson, a.k.a Lady Liberty, and his brother Walter Sampson, a.k.a. Brain-Wave. Leslie Bibb will play Grace, while Ben Daniels is Walter.

But the "legacy" in the title comes from these superheroes' interactions with their children, who have grown up in a different world than they did and have different perspectives as a result. Elena Kampouris will play Sheldon and Grace's daughter Chloe, while Andrew Horton plays her brother Brandon. Mike Wade and Matt Lanter round out the initial cast as Fitz Small, the heart and soul of The Union, and George Hutchence, a former member who has turned against his former friends and become a supervillain.

Jupiter's Legacy was originally published by Millar's Millarworld publishing imprint. Since acquiring Millarworld in 2017, Netflix has been publishing new Millar comics like The Magic Order and Prodigy. Now it's moving on to the next stage, adapting Millarworld books onto the screen.
