Watch the trailer for David Fincher and Tim Miller's animated Netflix show Love, Death & Robots

Netflix has released the first trailer for Love, Death & Robots, an animated anthology series presented by David Fincher and Tim Miller. The series will premiere on the streaming service March 15.

Anyone who’s familiar with the work of Fincher (Seven, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, House of Cards) and Miller (Deadpool) shouldn’t be surprised that the show is unquestionably adults-only fare. It will consist of 18 “short, sweet, and lethal” (ranging from five to 15 minutes in length) stories dealing with such topics as racism, war, free will, and human nature — sort of an animated Black Mirror.

The trailer shows off the variety of animation styles (and cuckoo-bananas imagery) the show will feature, befitting its anthology format. The episodes come from animators around the world and will span several genres, from sci-fi to fantasy to horror to comedy. But all draw inspiration from the genre fare and edgy comics that Fincher and Miller grew up loving.

Love, Death & Robots is my dream project, it combines my love of animation and amazing stories,” Miller said in a statement. “Midnight movies, comics, books, and magazines of fantastic fiction have inspired me for decades, but they were relegated to the fringe culture of geeks and nerds of which I was a part. I’m so f—ing excited that the creative landscape has finally changed enough for adult-themed animation to become part of a larger cultural conversation.”
