Watch Stephen Colbert try and fail to extract Game of Thrones intel from Kit Harington

When it comes to Game of Thrones finale spoilers, Kit Harington knows nothing… nothing that he can tell Stephen Colbert, anyway. Nevertheless, Colbert tried his hardest to get any information on the HBO drama’s final season. That alone was just as entertaining.

In one portion of the interview, Colbert placed a single close-up camera on Harington to gage his reactions to various finale theories. The actor, 32, did his best to maintain his composure as Colbert dropped this nice Winds of Winter joke: “In the final scene, we see George R.R. Martin watching the credits roll. He says, ‘That’s a great idea!’ And finally finishes his book.”

Colbert does have an idea for an epic Game of ThronesAvengers crossover on par with Patton Oswalt’s Star Wars filibuster on Parks and Recreation. “Jon Snow has a son and names him Tony, House Stark,” the host said. “Tony Stark! He’s Iron Man! It’s the ultimate crossover.” Something tells us that’s not quite it.

This is going to be an interesting press tour for the cast since, as Harington said, “All of us in the cast are turning to each other and going, ‘What do you say?’ And I can’t even say lies, I can’t even make something up ’cause then that gets picked up and then they pick that apart and anything that might be true they narrowed that out of it. So it’s just a minefield.”

But the cast, as shown in EW’s new Game of Thrones cover story (Colbert held up Harington’s cover during their chat), are indeed out here talking about the series and its epic conclusion.

To keep us entertained, the Late Show added a new spoof that turned the Trump subpoenas from “House Dems” into the next sweeping HBO drama. “Subpoenas are coming,” says the voice-over.

Game of Thrones’ final season will premiere April 14 on HBO.
