Former NCIS star Pauley Perrette could be staging a comeback to CBS this fall. The actress, who played forensic scientist Abby Sciuto on NCIS for 15 seasons, has been cast in Broke!, a comedy pilot about a single mom named Jackie who agrees to take in her flat-broke sister and brother-in-law.

Here’s the official logline for the sitcom from Jennie Snyder Urman (Jane the Virgin): “The manager of a bar, Jackie is feisty, not easily cowed, sometimes hot-headed, the kind of woman who knows her way around a toolbox and an acetylene torch. She’s not thrilled when her snobby rich sister and husband suddenly show up on her doorstep, but she comes to remember how much she loves her sister and learns to appreciate them both in her life.”

Jaime Camil (Jane the Virgin) has been cast as Miguel, Jackie’s brother-in-law. The comedy has to be picked up to series before her fans can enjoy Perrette in a new role on CBS.

Perrette, who was a huge fan favorite while on NCIS, left the procedural last May. Around the same time, she posted a series of cryptic tweets about how there were “tabloid articles out there that are telling total lies about me” and asked fans to “leave me alone” if they believed them. She also claimed a “machine” was “keeping me silent” about “multiple physical assaults.”

CBS TV Studios responded by saying the company is committed “to a safe work environment on all of our shows.”

“Pauley Perrette had a terrific run on NCIS and we are all going to miss her,” the studio said. “Over a year ago, Pauley came to us with a workplace concern. We took the matter seriously and worked with her to find a resolution. We are committed to a safe work environment on all our shows.”
