Inside the Actors Studio revamp taps Alec Baldwin, Jane Lynch as rotating hosts

No one could possibly replace James Lipton, so instead of giving that unenviable task to just one host, Ovation tapped a rotating roster of hosts for its new revamp of Inside the Actors Studio. The first names were announced on Tuesday.

Jane Lynch and Alec Baldwin are two of the confirmed new hosts coming to the show, while others will be announced at a later time.

After winning a Golden Globe for Glee, Lynch took the reins of Hollywood Game Night, which she has hosted since 2013. Baldwin, who continues to impersonate President Trump on Saturday Night Live, hosted his own talk show for ABC, though it moved to Saturdays due to poor ratings. He also hosts Here’s the Thing, a podcast for WNYC Studios.

Among their first guests will be Henry Winkler, who finally received his first Emmy with HBO’s Barry, and David Oyelowo, two-time Golden Globe nominee of Nightingale and Selma.

The new Inside the Actors Studio, which moved from Bravo to Ovation, will premiere on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 10 p.m. ET.

Legacy episodes will air on Ovation leading up to the premiere with Paul Newman, Robin Williams, Will Smith, Jennifer Lopez, Salma Hayek, George Clooney, Halle Berry, Jim Carrey, Bradley Cooper, and Brad Pitt.

“The Actors Studio is excited to continue the legacy of our MFA Program’s master class series Inside the Actors Studio that resides at Pace University with Ovation TV,” Baldwin said. “We continue to delve into the craft of acting with a diverse roster of fascinating guests and hosts, both enduring and up-and-coming. Ovation has always been a great place to celebrate the arts.”

Vulture was the first to report the news.
