Maisie Williams lets slip a huge Game of Thrones spoiler in late-night prank

Maisie Williams let slip a massive Game of Thrones season 8 spoiler while on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday night. Okay, it was an elaborate April Fools prank, but Fallon’s audience sure didn’t know that.

While casually talking about the final season with Fallon (go to the 1:45 mark above), the Arya Stark actress said, “During shooting the final days were really emotional towards the cast because when I found out that Arya dies in the second episode I was–”

Then she freezes, hands trembling and she covers her face in shock and horror.

There’s a bit of a gasp from the crowd and Fallon goes, “What?! Are you kidding me? That’s a spoiler.”

“Is this live?” Williams asks.

“No,” Fallon reassures.

“We can edit that out.”

“Yeah, totally.”

“They’re still going to tweet about it.”

“No, it’s fine. Don’t worry about it. We can edit it, right?”

Fallon has the audience applaud and tries to re-start the interview and Williams abruptly runs off stage.

Then they both come out to announce “April Fools!”

Well played!

Though one imagines this is still a real spoiler — because it must mean Arya does not die in the second episode, right?

Game of Thrones returns April 14.
