Rashida Jones 'so grateful' for Parks and Recreation on series' 10th anniversary

Rashida Jones is looking back at her time on NBC’s Parks and Recreation.

On Tuesday, the actress posted a photo on Instagram celebrating the 10th anniversary of the first episode of the comedy premiering on NBC on April 9, 2009. The show ran for seven seasons, airing 125 episodes, before wrapping up in 2015.

“Ten years ago today, the first episode of [Parks and Rec] aired,” wrote Jones in the caption of a photo of her as Ann Perkins, alongside her best friend on the show, Amy Poehler’s Leslie Knope. “And thus began the most magical seven years of my professional life playing Ann Perkins and working with kind, hilarious, and talented people that I still call friends.”

Jones continued her comment, explaining that the cast, crew, and writers spent a lot of time during production in fear that they’d be canceled due to low ratings. “[E]very season, we prayed that we would get picked up, even if it was just for six more,” she wrote. “Because we loved it. Needless to say, over time, many, many people have come to love the show with unexpected fervor. I don’t know if the series would have been what it was if we could’ve foreseen that. Holding onto each other tight and treasuring every moment together was a huge part of what is on screen. So grateful for this show, these people, this writing, this experience. Happy 10th.”

Jones wasn’t the only Parks and Rec star feeling the love on the show’s anniversary. Jones’ costars (as well as current stars of NBC’s reality competition Making It) Poehler and Nick Offerman posted a video on the show’s official social media accounts, thanking fans for supporting them over the years. “Citizens of Pawnee, thank you for spending 10 years of your life with us — sharing your laughter, your tears, and even your waffles,” said Poehler. While Offerman added: “We love you and we can’t thank you enough for your support.”
