Here's how you know Jonathan's stoner pal Argyle in Stranger Things season 4

Stranger Things season 4 features a lot of familiar faces, including those of its new characters.

One of the best additions to the Stranger Things universe this season is Argyle, Jonathan's (Charlie Heaton) stoner pal whom he befriends after the Byers family leaves Hawkins for California.

With his luscious long locks and his penchant for "smoking smelly plants," as Eleven so eloquently puts it, Argyle is the quintessential '80s pothead, complete with a clutch job at a local pizza shop that provides him with a van that would make the Scooby-Doo gang proud.

Eduardo Franco, the actor behind the cloud of perpetual smoke, might be new to this show, but chances are good that you've seen him in one of several Netflix projects and other films and series in the last few years. The 27-year-old Yuma, Arizona, native got his start in 2016, appearing in an episode of the series The Skinny and You're the Worst. From 2015 to 2017, he played Stu in the Disney series Gamer's Guide to Pretty Much Everything and Gavis in truTV's Adam Ruins Everything.

While some of his other credits include Good Game, Idiotsitter, The Binge, Superintelligence, and We Broke Up, Franco is probably best known for his roles in two other Netflix properties. In the popular series American Vandal, he played the first season's Spencer Diaz. And in the film The Package, he starred as Jeremy.

In Olivia Wilde's smash hit directorial debut Booksmart, Franco played Theo, who he once described as "not a complete idiot, but he flunked a couple grades here and there, so he's at an age that is not necessarily the norm within high school."

As Argyle on Stranger Things, he stands out this season as some much-needed comic relief in the new episodes, which are the darkest yet for the Netflix series. Here's to hoping we see more of Franco's happy-go-lucky character in the final season.

Stranger Things season 4, Volume 1 is streaming now on Netflix, while the super-sized Volume 2 will drop July 1.
