Disney+ and National Geographic have announced the leads for Genius: MLK/X, the fourth installment of the anthology series centered on untold stories of some of the world's most brilliant innovators. Season 4 will chronicle the "formative years, pioneering accomplishments, dueling philosophies, and key personal relationships of" Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. While King fought for racial equality through nonviolent protest, Malcolm X argued forcefully for Black empowerment and self-determination.

Kelvin Harrison Jr., Aaron Pierre, Weruche Opia, and Jayme Lawson will headline the new season, and Raphael Jackson Jr. and Damione Macedon will serve as showrunners. Reggie Rock Bythewood and Gina Prince-Bythewood will executive-produce alongside Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, and Channing Godfrey Peoples, who will also direct.

Aaron Pierre, who starred in The Underground Railroad and will appear in the upcoming Blade film, will portray Malcolm X.

Weruche Opia, who starred opposite Michaela Coel in I May Destroy You, will portray King's wife, Coretta Scott King.
