iCarly revival with Miranda Cosgrove and original stars in the works

It looks like the iCarly cinematic universe is expanding yet again. EW can confirm that ViacomCBS' streaming platform Paramount+ will be developing a revival of the Nickelodeon series, which went off the air in 2012. TVLine first broke the news.

EW has reached out to representatives for Paramount+ for confirmation.

Original stars Miranda Cosgrove, Jerry Trainor, and Nathan Kress will return for the new show, which has been given a series order by the streamer. Jay Kogen (The Simpsons, School of Rock) and Ali Schouten (Champions, Merry Happy Whatever) will develop the show.

iCarly, which first premiered in 2007, starred Cosgrove as Carly Shay, who stars in a popular web series with help from her friends Freddie (Kress) and Sam (Jennette McCurdy), and her older brother Spencer (Trainor).

The comedy was a hit for the network and led to the spinoff Sam & Cat led by McCurdy and Ariana Grande from Victorious. Another spinoff, featuring Noah Munck's Gibby, filmed its pilot but was not picked up as a series.

Now 27, Cosgrove went on to study psychology at USC after iCarly and also hosts the CBS show Mission Unstoppable With Miranda Cosgrove. She's also reunited quite often with the iCarly cast, including back in 2015 for Kress's wedding.

Paramount+, which is currently known as CBS All Access, will launch in early 2021.
