Kelly Ripa reveals she didn't hire a woman for 'bad-mouthing' Ripa's friend in job interview

"It was very depressing," the cohost said on Live With Kelly and Mark.

Kelly Ripa has some wise career advice if you wanna work for her and her husband, Mark Consuelos: Don't talk s--- about family friends during the hiring process.

The Live With Kelly and Mark cohosts revealed on Thursday's episode that they once didn't hire a candidate for an internal position after the applicant criticized one of their friends during her final interview.

Consuelos segued into the topic as the pair discussed an expert's analysis of what not to say on a first date, noting that romantic red flags are "like bad-mouthing a boss when you're interviewing somebody. You know not to hire someone."

Ripa turned to her husband and asked if he remembered their experience before telling the full story.

"We interviewed someone — the interview was amazing, incredible. I was like, 'This person is our person,'" Ripa said. "And then she started bad-mouthing her previous boss, and we knew the person, and I was like, 'Damn. Almost stuck the landing.' I was like, 'I can't wait. Can you start Monday?' And then I was like, 'You'll be hearing from us.'"

Ripa called the ordeal "very depressing," though she didn't reveal which position the candidate had applied for or when the exchange took place.

Ripa and Consuelos have made headlines recently for a revolving door of home-life happenings, from "ingrate children" complaining about their Halloween candy and the decimation of their garage door, to their battle with hypocritical neighbors who filed a noise complaint against them for having a party for their kids.
