Starting with The Voice of Holland in 2010, the reality singing competition has become a global phenomenon. There are dozens of versions of The Voice from Mexico to Indonesia where celebrity coaches build teams of singers, all hoping to fulfill their dreams of music stardom—and to win the competition. A look at some of the artists who have occupied those spinning red chairs on international editions of The Voice, ahead.

Keith Urban

When The Voice Australia launched in 2012, Keith Urban was one of the superstar coaches chosen for the series. The Australian singer nurtured a team of talented singers for one season, kicking off the show's first season on a strong note. He has since returned to singing competitions as one of the judges on the American Idol (seasons 12–15).

Joel and Benji Madden

For five seasons, the Madden brothers coached teams on The Voice Australia. Joel Madden spent the first three seasons looking for talent on his own before teaming up to work alongside his brother for two more cycles of The Voice Australia and a season of the Australian version of The Voice Kids.

Black Eyed Peas founder will.i.am is all about finding British talent. Since The Voice UK premiered in 2012, he has been a coach on all nine seasons, as well as all four seasons of The Voice Kids UK. He also made a single-season appearance on The Voice Australia in 2014, winning its third season in 2014 with Anja Nissen.

Ricky Martin

The King of Latin Pop Ricky Martin joined the coaches of The Voice Australia for three seasons. He clearly loved the format because, in 2014, Martin searched for talent in Mexico on La Voz…Mexico in between seasons of the Australia edition.

Kylie Minogue

Kylie Minogue put her dual Australian-British citizenship to use in 2014. Europe's Princess of Pop was a coach on both the British and Australian editions of The Voice that year.

Jessie J

British singer Jessie J was eager to find new talent as one of the original coaches on The Voice UK. After two seasons, she left the show in 2013, but returned to the franchise two years later as a coach on The Voice Australia for another pair of seasons, then again in 2019 for The Voice Kids UK.

Seal

As a coach, Seal was very good on The Voice. He was one of the original musicians looking for great singers on The Voice Australia and won the first two seasons with Karise Eden and Harrison Craig. The British singer left after his two wins and returned in 2017 for season 6.

Armed with his experience in the Jonas Brothers and DNCE, Joe Jonas—whose brother Nick was a coach on season 18 of the U.S. series—headed Down Under in 2018 for a single season of The Voice Australia to discover new talent.

Boy George

Culture Club lead singer Boy George made his debut in a red chair on The Voice UK in 2016. While he was on the British reality competition for just one season, the British singer has been a coach on The Voice Australia since 2017. During his four-season stint on the reality series, he has won once with singer Diana Rouvas.

Kelly Rowland

Having built a band on BET's Chasing Destiny and served as an X-Factor judge in two countries, Kelly Rowland is no stranger to talent competitions. Since 2017, she has been a coach on The Voice Australia. Rowland is good at it too—she's won two of four seasons with artists Sam Perry and Chris Sebastian.

Luis Fonsi

Luis Fonsi has traveled the globe looking for Latinx and Spanish stars on The Voice. The Puerto Rican superstar has been a coach on The Voice Chile and La Voz in Spain. Most recently, he has been on the panel for Telemundo's La Voz, the Spanish-language version set in the U.S. He will return for the third season, which is currently set for 2021.

Maluma

Maluma picked his teams well because he won the first season of both La Voz Kids in Colombia and Mexico with singers Ivanna Garcia and Eduardo Barba, respectively. In addition to appearing on the second season of La Voz Kids in Colombia, he was a coach on two seasons of La Voz…Mexico.

Lene Nystrøm

Lene Nystrøm of European music group Aqua joined the global franchise to find talent in a pair of Scandinavian countries. The Norwegian singer-songwriter appeared on the Danish version of the show for two seasons before joining the second season of the Norwegian version, which she won with singer Knut Marius.

Lebanese-born British singer Mika, who broke out with his first album Live in Cartoon Motion, spent six seasons on The Voice: La Plus Belle Voix. On the French reality series, Mika won his first and last season on the show with singers Kendji Girac and Whitney Marin, respectively.

Filipino-American apl.de.ap went home to the Philippines to help find great artists. The Black Eyed Peas member was a coach on The Voice of the Philippines for 2 seasons in 2013 and 2014. After a hiatus, he returned to The Voice Teens in the Philippines in 2020. The season was impacted by the pandemic, but in the end, an artist from each team was named co-champions.

The artist's commitment to discovering talent in her home country is shown through work as a coach on The Voice of the Philippines and its spin-offs, The Voice Teens and The Voice Kids. A singer on Salonga's team won the first season of The Voice of the Philippines and a season of The Voice Kids.

The Voice UK chose a legend for its coaches' panel when Tom Jones joined the reality series. The beloved Welsh singer used his experience and eye for talent to win the first season of the BBC One series with Leanne Mitchell. Across two networks, Jones has been a coach on all but one of the show's nine seasons, winning for a second time in 2018 with Ruti Olajugbagbe.

Jennifer Hudson

Jennifer Hudson may be known for getting coaches to throw their shoes at the incredible talent on NBC's The Voice, but she has also been finding talent on The Voice UK. Hudson was a coach on the reality series for three seasons, winning with singer Mo Adeniran—a.k.a. Mo Jamil—during her first run on the show in 2017.
