Where Is Wendy Williams? reveals health battles, guardianship, and financial struggles in Lifetime doc

"Anyone can look at her and tell this is not just alcohol, there's something more going on," a family member says about the former TV host.

Wendy Williams is speaking candidly about her daytime talk show exit, health battles, and experience being under guardianship in her upcoming Lifetime documentary, Where Is Wendy Williams?

In a trailer for the two-part docuseries, which airs on Feb. 24 and 25, the former TV host can be seen for the first time since she went on hiatus from The Wendy Williams Show due to serious health complications in 2021. “Are we ready?” She asks producers. When given the green light, Williams adds, “Alright. And away we go.”

The clip goes on to highlight Williams’ obsession with fame, which began when she was a child, and her desire to “be back on television” one day. However, her family members reveal that they believe Williams is dealing with more emotional and physical ailments underneath the surface, with one suggesting that they think she's 'losing memory."

They add, "Anyone can look at her and tell this is not just alcohol, there's something more going on."

"My mom, she always talks about how she wants to work, but I feel as though she's worked enough," her son Kevin Hunter Jr. explains. "She has people around her that are 'yes people' and allowing this to continue."

Another family member notes that things changed after Williams was "put in front of a judge and given a guardian" amid her struggles, adding, "That was when they took her away from us."

Other clips reveal Williams’ increasingly fragile state as she frantically exclaims that she “can’t do this” and asks to sit down and shouts at a driver to keep going despite not recognizing her location.

Her sobriety struggle is also highlighted when she scolds a family member after they ask if she'd drank an entire bottle of alcohol, In another shot, Williams can be seen weeping while holding onto a pillow.

Williams, who serves as an executive producer on the project, also reveals that her struggles have not only had an affect on her mental and physical health, but on her finances too. "I have no money," she says. “And let me tell you something, if it happens to me, it can happen to you."

In 2022, Shawn Zanotti, a spokeswoman for Williams, confirmed to EW that the host had checked in to a wellness facility "seeking help to manage her overall health issues." At the time, she added that Williams was "being treated by a team of some of the best doctors in the world."
